Bull City Race Fest

This weekend is, Durham’s biggest running event of the year, the Bull City Race Fest. The course starts on Blackwell Street next to the Durham Bulls Stadium heads by the tall buildings in the downtown area and the Durham Athletic Park. The route turns west towards Brightleaf Square before heading north into the Trinity Heights neighborhood. Among the houses, the course heads west on one street then east on another a block away a couple times. The race make a loop through Duke East Campus then follows campus drive towards the main campus. The route moves south makes a loop then onto Morehead Avenue through another neighborhood then back on the avenue before returning to Blackwell Street. Besides the half marathon, there is also a 5 mile and un-timed 1 mile race.

There are awards for the top three male and female overall, masters and age groups. The age groups are twelve and under, thirteen to fifteen, and sixteen to nineteen, five year intervals from twenty to seventy-nine and eighty and over. The event is run by Endurance Magazine and benefits Habitat for Humanity Durham. The Half Marathon event starts at 7:30 am, 5 mile at 8:15 am and 1 mile run at 8:30 am.
