This Saturday morning is the Race 13.1 in Durham. The course has two sections with an out and back with a loop at each end connected together. The race begins and ends at the Northgate Mall. After the start in the parking lot, the course makes multiple turns on local roads on its way by the NC School of Math and Science. The race head north for a short distance on the West Ellerbee Creek Trail then south for the rectangular loop through the neighborhood then back near the mall. The second out and back segment begins heading south to Trinity Heights by Duke East Campus then east to the South Ellerbee Creek Trail. The course heads north leaving the trail to get under Interstate 85 then returning to trial for the final distance to the Museum of Life and Science and the loop through Rock Quarry Park. The race returns using the same section to the mall. For competitors looking for shorter distance, there is a 10K and 5K race.
Awards will be given to the top three overall and age group male and female finishers. The age groups being nineteen and under, five year intervals from twenty to sixty-nine and seventy and over.
